These places scattered all across the USA provide just as much entertainment as nourishment. Everything from campy fun for the whole family to the genuinely haunted can be found for every appetite. So whether you have set off on vacation dedicated to all the spooky delights the country has to offer, or you just have a few hours to kill(pun intended), here are the 16 Best Horror Themed Restaurants you need to visit right now.
Monster Club Omaha, Nebraska
Monster Club, located in the Old Market section of Omaha, Nebraska, is fun for the whole family. Everything is very tongue and cheek and chock full of movie magic items, so even the little ones shouldn’t be intimidated. The self-titled pub and grub specializes in comfort food, and they deliver. Brisket nachos, cheese curds, fish and chips, and monster burgers can all be found here. You should also try any of the tap beers, the seriously tasty boozy milkshakes, or a large assortment of cocktails. My favorite is 1313 Mockingbird Lane, a vodka-forward cocktail with just a hint of sweetness and sparkle. This is the best of the horror themed restaurants on the list for horror movie lovers. You can view all their menus here.
Old Devil Moon San Francisco, California
This is the place to go for craft beer, whiskey, and rum. They don’t just serve drinks either. Get your Po’Boy itch satisfied with a full complement of sides and desserts. When the weather is nice, sit outside on their large patio or sit inside and grab a drink and have your fortune told. These people know their beer with three Cicerone(think beer sommelier) on staff. The food is good, the beer even better, at the atmosphere is the best. It deserves a place among the best horror themed restaurants for the vast menu alone. So go with all your favorite witches and fall under Old Devil Moon’s spell. Find all their details here.
Beetle House New York City, New York, and Los Angeles, California
If Tim Burton imagined an eatery and bar, this would be the likely result. All ages are welcome in the dining room, where the food is just as well-themed as the drinks. Everything is lovingly Burtonesque with names like the Cheshire Mac N Cheese and Frites and Frights. The Sweeney Beef is worth getting a little dirty for. Of course, you will be licking your plate clean of the bloody juice. Stand-out drinks include Alcoholic Poison Shots and a cucumber/gin drink called the Bio-Exorcism. Beetle House provides dinner, drinks, and a show, but the space is limited, so make reservations if you intend on eating there. Both locations are the tops and a must-visit for horror fans. Find all the details about either location here.
Terror Tacos St. Louis, Missouri
If you love ’80s horror and tasty tacos, this is your place. Brothers Bradley and Brian run the place. It is also one of the best vegan restaurants I have ever eaten, regardless of theme. The portions are beyond generous, so wear your fat pants and be prepared to waddle your way out of the door. While inside, take your time eating to enjoy the meticulous styling. One of the walls appears to be dripping blood, and a lot of the art was made by one of the brothers. It is just the kind of bizarre, otherworldly experience horror fans love. They do to-go orders but don’t miss out on the crazy atmosphere. Find all their information here.
Muriel’s Jackson Square New Orleans, Louisiana
Although this restaurant is haunted, the big draw is the food. New Orleans is one of the most haunted cities in America, and Muriel’s has its fair share of paranormal activity. Glasses have been known to fly across the room, and visitors regularly report seeing strange shadows, hearing voices, and seeing sparkly apparitions float around the room. The dishes prepared by Chef Erik Veney bring uniquely New Orleans tastiness to willing eaters. The gumbo, roasted duck, and white chocolate bread pudding can’t be missed. Make a reservation and see their full menu here.
Zombie Burger And Shake Lab West Des Moines, Iowa
You won’t find a better burger and shake than here. Gut-busting specials like the Undead Elvis, a nauseating sounding but embarrassingly delicious concoction with fried bananas and peanut butter paired with a Zombie Bride Wedding Cake, can’t be missed. The GOREmet eatery is reminiscent of the roadside burger shacks of the ’70s. They have two locations in Iowa, a quick service place in Jordan Creek mall and their flagship Burger and Drink joint, which offers cocktails and full service. Both are a ton of fun and serve incredible food. Find all their details here.
The Coffin Club Portland, Oregan
Previously known as The Lovecraft Bar, this bar celebrates everything Weird. It brings the fictional bars of American Werewolf, Star Wars, and Tolkien to life with clever attention to detail and beautiful lighting. In addition, they offer dance parties, concerts, and burlesque shows on their rotating event calendar. Lovers of Absynthe drinks will be happy to see both The Other Gods and The Unpleasant Dreams, which feature the strong spirit. It’s goth, weird, and one of a kind. Find their calendar here.
Poe’s Tavern 4 locations in South Carolina, Florida, and Georgia
There is nothing scary about the decor of this sunny eatery, but the food is worth going for. Edgar Allen Poe, one of the world’s greatest horror writers, is immortalized in a menu that features Pit and the Pendulum, The Tell-Tale Heart, and House of Usher, to name just a few. It’s a great place to take a family as there is both indoor and outdoor seating and prompt service. They offer wine, beer, and a full bar too. Bring a copy of the author’s best works and sneak some education in among the delectable morsels. Find their menu and all of their location information here.
Jekyll and Hyde Club New York City, New York
This place is bonkers. It is like the Rainforest Cafe for horror on steroids. Everything can and does come to life and interact with you while you eat. Every ten minutes, something happens, guaranteeing you won’t ever get bored. The huge menu has something for every palate, including kids who are always welcome if they are brave enough. They are open to the public and for special events. For a fully immersive experience, this is one of the horror themed restaurants you shouldn’t skip. You can book a party or get more details here.
The Haunted House Restaurant Cleveland Heights, Ohio
This fabulous restaurant offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch. The menu is hilariously full of silly puns like the Children of the Street Corn and Frankenfish Tacos, which are both scrumptious. Movie posters, horror murals, and blood-red booths set the mood for this dining experience. The whole family is welcome to partake in the playfully spooky Purge presentations that make no bones about how goofy they are. It’s a great restaurant with comfort food that doesn’t take itself too seriously despite the ominous name. Find the full menu and all the details here.
Phantom Carriage Brewery and Eatery Carson, California
Phantom Carriage is a 1921 Swedish horror film and a microbrewery. They don’t just have a cicerone but one of only 19 Master cicerone, which means this is superior beer. Phantom Carriage has a beer for every tastebud, but The Island of Hybrid Moments, a fruity IPA, and their Reeper’s Grasp and rye whiskey oak-aged Imperial Stout are can’t misses. They also offer a selection of easy-to-eat foods that perfectly complement their beers. Every corner is decorated with things that pay homage to the Swedish classic making this a strange and unusual addition to foody eats. There’s even a cool hidden room that can be rented out for parties. Find their full menu and hours here.
Last Rites San Francisco, California
This bar reads like a voodoo priestess took over a remote island and killed off all the residents. It is the coolest and creepiest Tiki bar you will ever set foot in. These drinks are no joke either. Some of them are so strong there is a two-drink maximum. They are as pretty as they are potent, and the wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Eat something before coming, as these drinks pack a punch. This is easily one of my favorite horror themed restaurants and bars. You can find their extensive brews, wine, and drink menu here.
Famous Monster Pizza Decatur, Indiana
This family-run pizza joint is a fun and only slightly scary place, perfect for a family meal. They use only the freshest ingredients to create delicious, one-of-a-kind pies. It’s not just deep dish pizza here; they also have mouthwatering strombolis, salads, and grinders. Everyone will love the fountain drink floats, especially the Black Lagoon. They also offer beer, wine, and specialty cocktails for the over 21 crowd. It’s classic monsters all day here but doesn’t worry; nothing is terrifying. Find their menu and information here.
Cloak & Dagger Cleveland, Ohio
Unusual and ornate are the two words which best describe this eccentric place. The focus is on hospitality and taste here, and it shows. The drinks are all well balanced and unlike anything you’ve tasted before. The food isn’t typical bar food either. Vegan doesn’t have to feel boring. This gorgeous bar isn’t for children but the young at heart. For lovers of all things spooky secrets, you won’t find any place better. Their menu changes often, so click here to see what they are serving now.
The Cauldron Spirits and Brews Buena Park, California
This witchy establishment is a magical fantasy-lovers dream. The menu puts a fresh spin on French food and comfort classics. The Bacon Jam and Gruyere Crepe taste like they have been conjured directly from Heaven. Located near Knotts Berry Farm, it would be the perfect place to unwind after an evening of fear at Knott’s Scary Farm. Children are welcome before 10, so plan accordingly. The walls are covered with artist renderings of magical depictions available for sale. Find all their details here.
Raven’s Manor Portland Oregon
This strictly 21 and over bar stands out for its unique approach. You can walk in and enjoy a handcrafted cocktail the traditional way but for a real treat, do Dr. Raven’s Elixor Experience, which is part science project, mind game, and mixology lesson. The Manor offers a full food menu. The Grilled Cheese of Darkness both looks and tastes great. If you are looking for something sweet, The Screaming Ghosts will satisfy your beignet craving. Find all the details here.
Closer to Halloween, they’re a glut of horror pop-up bars, but when it’s the middle of June, and you have been craving something scary, any of these places will fit the bill. They all are decorated impeccably and offer outstanding food or drink. In some cases, both. You won’t go wrong with these horror-themed restaurants and bar choices. After all, we horror geeks have got to stick together.
